U by Kotex
Yes, I'm linking an ad for "feminine products", but give it a shot.
What I think is funny is that, while they're making fun of the way these ads
are, all the clips aside from the narrator are from older Kotex campaigns. That
takes guts. The second
ad strikes a little wider on advertising in general, which can only make
me think that there are some either ego-less or bitter copywriters and art directors
out there.

Talking
Beaver on the Highway
I have no idea how a random critter on the highway turns into this video, but
gotta admit it's original.

Old Spice
- The Man Your Man Could Smell Like (updated July 3rd, 2010)
This first ad ran during the Super Bowl (I believe) and gets me every time.
I found an interview with the two writers of this commercial, where they explained
all the transitions (no CGI!). I can only imagine how many takes it would have
taken with all the crazy transitions and having to resist cracking up over the
course of a 30-second single shot. In June another
ad ran which is similar but I don't find it as smooth.

Clock
Shot and Falling
Shot
Two incredible basketball shots, definitely a serious element of skill but also
an extreme amount of luck.

Tickle
Me Kitten
I'm ashamed of posting this video, but it compels me. I don't even know why.

Straight
No Chaser - 12 Days (1998)
Straight No Chaser is an acapella group formed in 1996 by Indiana University
student Dan Ponce. This is a performance from 1998 of an expanded version of
the "12 Days of Christmas", placed online in 2007 and which received
so many views that the group reunited and has recently completed a professional
album as well as started touring nationwide.
Tim Hawkins
- Cletus Take the Reel
Parody of Carrie Underwood's "Jesus Take the Wheel", my favorite moment
is at 1:57. Someone familiar with the original might get more enjoyment from
it, but it's still funny to someone ignorant like me.
Casting
Crowns - Who Am I
Not the official video for the song, but rather a performance by the Oslo UPC
Youth Group using blacklight and...well, just watch the video.
Impenetrable
Doggie Forcefield
Behold the power of...aluminum.
Panda
Wait for it.
Stupid
Terrorist
A faux-newscast interviewing an Iraqi insurrectionist who finds, in my opinion,
a perfectly reasonable thing to get upset about.
Jeep
Commercial With Singing Animals
Add this to the list of animal videos, even though that list is getting a little
long. I like the wolf.
Bridgestone
Screaming Squirrel
<sigh> Another one. I like the grasshopper.
World
of Warcraft 4x4
Probably only funny if you've played the game. Note: not really an available
mount.
Star Trek
vs. Star Wars
Aside from a couple bleeped expletives, I find this thing hilarious.
WoW Intervention
Probably funny to anyone who's played a multiplayer online game, but some of
the specific WoW references are especially funny. "I must be out of mana..."
Two inappropriate jokes but no objectionable language, so just be forewarned.

The Great
Office War
The epic struggle between Sales and IT degenerates into open styrofoam warfare
in this video from Runawaybox.
Watch closely for some hilarious details. The other videos made by this same
group aren't as good, with the possible exception of the One
Semester of Spanish Love Song.

UC Berkeley
Video Game Half-Time Show
This is awesome, even if it's upside-down as viewed by the camera. And in case
it's not clear, the references are (in order): Pong, Tetris, Mortal Kombat,
Pokemon, Legend of Zelda, and Super Mario Brothers.
Why Buy
Expensive Toys?
Parents should be grateful for kids this easily entertained.
Dramatic
Chipmunk
Apparently an internet sensation that I am woefully-late in appreciating, the
title link above is for the original clip posted online. Thanks to the freedom
of easy video editing, you can also see the clip reworked to reference a silent
film-era villain,
Star Wars,
Guitar
Hero, and Michael Jackson's Thriller.

Kiwi!
This video is very cute, but also very sad.
Canon
(played by funtwo)
Classical music played with rock instruments can be very cool. This guy is very
talented. That makes for a cool combo.

Weird
Al Yankovic's White and Nerdy
Parody of a horrible song about the joys of getting away with stuff under the
nose of the police, this song is fantastic. After careful consideration, I believe
there's only two references in there that I don't get. I'm not sure whether
to be proud or ashamed.

How It Should
Have Ended (dot com)
This site features little movies of low-to-moderate animated quality providing
some insight into how certain movies should have ended (in a world lacking in
drama or inevitable victory for the do-gooders). I particularly like the Superman:
The Movie, Lord
of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, and Star
Wars: A New Hope ones. The others are good, too, but don't stand out as
much. (You will need the DivX codec to view these movies in their highest quality
on the creators' web site. If you do not have the DivX codec, you may
search for them on YouTube.)

The
Llama Song
Everybody loves llamas. A silly but oddly mesmerizing song.
GE
- Singin' in the Rain
Caution, cute dancing animal ahead...
Mathematician's
Love Song
Sappy or hilarious? Probably both. Bonus points for each mathematical reference
you get.
Tripod's
"Make You Happy Tonight"
Depending on your perspective, this song can be 1) hilarious, 2) frustrating
familiar, or 3) simply a normal Tuesday.
What Every Office Needs
Seriously. I'm not kidding.
Shut Up
and Dance
World of Warcraft has the best...dancing mechanics of any online game to date?

John West Red Salmon
Sometimes the commercials are better than the show you're watching, so this
advertisement inaugurates the "television commercials" category here
on The Flightline. I particularly like it because it manages to have a) a surprise
twist, b) a funny animal, and c) completely ridiculousness.

SNL "More
Cowbell"
This Saturday Night Live sketch is great, even though it contains the overrated
Christopher Walken.

Funny Cats
A previous "funny animals" video led to a discussion of other
animal videos, so here's one with cats. (For the record, this one is good for
people who find cat hijinks funny and for people who don't like cats
and want to see them fall down.)
The Rookie
A dog video, this time, doing a little performance with its owner/trainer/whatever.
The dog is very well-trained, but I find it more interesting how excited the
dog seems to be the whole time.
Matrix Ping-Pong
Japanese people are crazy. That being said, this thing is pretty impressive.
It's a clip from some Japanese talent show where I think you can do basically
anything, but these guys do a ping-pong game with slow-mo action-movie effects
totally live on stage.

Einstein the Bird
I'm not usually one for cute animal tricks but...phew.
SNL "Lazy Sunday"
If you find "Saturday Night Live" humorous, The Chronicles of Narnia
interesting, or gangsta rap ridiculous...you can check this out. Gotta pay real
close attention to the lyrics to get the full effect, so listen up. (This file
is relatively large at 26 MB. If you have trouble viewing it directly, save
it locally before playing it.)
Wassup Milk
My brother occassionally stumbles across little gems like this. I'm not sure
how, as he considers web-browsing only slightly less exciting than watching
paint dry. Try to ignore any disturbing overlap of children and alcohol.

The Daily
Show in Westchase
One, never let The Daily Show interview you unless you want to look stupid.
Two, my brother works with several people who live in this community and they
say it really is as ridiculous as portrayed here.

Urban
Ninja
This is one of those things that you have to tell your kids NEVER to do but...it's
still pretty impressive. This kid has an impressive variety of environments
to play in, but he's not quite as raw talented as this next guy...
Crazy
Acrobat
The thing that impresses me most about this guy is that he lands like a feather
EVERY TIME. Leap over a buddy? Like a feather. Triple backflip off the wall?
Like a feather. It's not human, man.
Super
Mario IRL
For those who may not know, "IRL" is lame netspeak for "in real
life". In this case, it also means hilarious.
Evolution
of Dance
Now, I'm not up on every cultural fad, but even I knew enough of these
to be entertained. And the guy's a decently impressive dancer, to boot.
Robot!
This is a video of a guy doing the robot. Then another guy with no bones does
it better.
The Chris
Bliss Video
This is a guy with a nice juggling performance set to a Beatles song.
The Chris
Bliss Diss Video
This is a professional juggler (you can tell he's a professional because
he's got arms like oak trees) taking the sound track from the Bliss video and
doing a five-ball version of Bliss' routine.
